Olympics, Queensland run and more

  • Well, we all enjoyed the continuous coverage of the Equestrian at the Olympics, even though we were all bleary eyed the next day from sitting up late into the night. (Thank you Foxtel) However, we are still enjoying watching the recorded events at our leisure and a lot is to be learned from watching these riders and their horses. One noticeable point is that you should never discount a horse on looks, breeding, size or rideability as they came in all shapes and sizes, random breeding and paces. “A good horse is a good horse and never judge a book by its cover!” Congratulations to our team on their excellent effort and especially to Matty for salvaging what could have been a real disaster.
  • Emma returned from a good Queensland run with all horses performing well and gaining some valuable jumping experience. Her young horses jumping up a height and her two older horses performing well in Part 2, following a break over winter.
  • Congratulations to Erin and Sonny, achieving their goal of competing in a 1.20cm competition. He now has contested two classes at this height and has won them both. From a horse that would not consider 75cm not so long ago, this is a massive achievement. Well done.
  • An opportunity to go skiing with a work colleague was too good to miss and next thing I knew Emma and Frances had their bags packed also. Other than the first day skiing in whiteout and blizzard conditions, the weekend shaped up to be fabulous snow and Eliana, Emma, Frances and myself had a blast. We stayed in a lovely lodge in Perisher and met some great people. Cannot wait until February next year when I get to spend some time in Silver Star, Canada with a friend from school who owns a lodge there.!!!
  • Great to have Julie and Craig up for the weekend of Youth Titles and to see Pants competing in the Young Rider classes. He has brought him up from a young horse and jumped some lovely rounds. Craig was also busy catching up with his Camden friends and, of course, we all had to go out to watch the League Grand Final .Giorga’s two boys performed beautifully in the Novice Young rider section. Nickaela with Red and Popeye has a very successful weekend and also celebrated her birthday. Emma’s students, Jack and Lily were also successful in their classes. Jack is the new member of “team Trimmer”, previously Craig’s pony and on which he won numerous classes! Jack is definitely following the tradition!
  • Emma, Erin and Giorga are preparing for the Canberra Classic, Bec is still on her overseas holiday and James and Tom are packing their bags to go to Hamilton Island to celebrate Pete and Sam’s wedding.
