February 2013

  • Well what a great day at the Races – watching (on the big screen at Rosehill) Michelle and Pete McMahon’s horse win the Magic Millions. Congratulations to all concerned and it made for an extra special day out. Thanks James for organizing the annual event.
  • February sees everyone heading south to the coast shows. A super run of shows with superb grounds, good equipment and course builders and just a really enjoyable time.
  • Dapto – Bec, Erin Giorga and Emma all had a good show, with Emm winning the first A & B Grade and 6th in the Grand Prix and Bec qualifying for the D grade Championships.
  • Berry – (again a little wet!!) Bec, Craig,  Erin  and the White family all had a good show despite the weather. (Winkie had a win – way to go Nic and Winkie)
  • Nowra – Sam, Giorga, Bec, Emma and the Whites all went to Nowra and James was stewarding. Nowra is always a great show, very capably run by the Bennett family with an added bonus for us in catching up with Jenelle Waters and her team. We had a great night with Nelly and also celebrated Geoff Smith’s birthday so we all had a wonderful time. All the horses went well including Conman gaining a 5th place in the Amateur class for Sam and James.
  • Jump Club – after a training day cancellation due to rain!! We finally managed to attend a Jump Club competition day with a lovely team of young horses. I was very pleased with James’s young horse, Fire, having his first outing in the ring. He went in the little ring and was very well behaved and jumped well. I also took Jess and she was excellent in her classes. Bec, Rhi, Sam and Giorga also competed with all horses going well. It was great to once again have Bec and Ashley Catt come to stay and be able to assist with the training of their young horses. A very enjoyable day once again and a lot of positive work done in the training programs of all horses.
  • Castle Hill – Anna, Bec, Erin, Giorga and Emma all went to Castle Hill. Bec and Erin gaining 2nd and 3rd in the Amateur class, Anna and Giorga jumping some really nice rounds and Emma placing 4th in the Grand Prix. We could only do the first day of the show as we had to head to Bega for Craig’s 21st.
  • Wow, do the Matthews family know how to party………..the theme was Hippy or Hillbilly and everyone dressed up. Craig’s sister Sam compiled a superb slide show for Craig and a superb night was had by all. Thank you, again, to the Matthews family for their wonderful hospitality.
  • Camden Show was a very enjoyable show once again with Anna, Bec, Erin, Giorga and Rhi all having good rounds on their horses. Anna and Erin were having their last preparation before contesting the  Amateur classes at Sydney and both were unlucky to have only one down in their 1.15 class.
  • Craig was preparing for Sydney at Bombala show and he and Fi Fi were placed in all their starts.  We look forward to seeing Craig and Lane Clarke for some training before heading into Sydney for the Juniors and Young Riders.
